Right after Christmas my teenage son asked if I could paint his room AND he wanted it blue. This was funny coming from him because about 6 months ago when we moved him from the 3rd floor to this bedroom he said he did not care what color the room was.
I always thought this brown was a bit dreary for a bedroom (hubby had picked it a few years ago) because this room was his office at one time (and my oldest son’s bedroom too). Truth is I did not feel like painting either so I was happy he chose to live with the color. Marshall, who is our youngest left at home, is a minimalist who loves blue and actually has an eye for design. He does not like a lot of stuff in his room unlike our other kids who had trinkets, knick knacks, and ‘stuff’ filling their rooms. So last week I went to Home Depot, picked up some paint samples, and laid them on the table where my son walked over and picked one- Celebration Blue – a Behr Marquee color.
I did not want to spend much on paint since we know (more like really want) to sell or rent this home after our son graduates this year. Our dream is move to a farm and start our next 20 years fulfilling a dream, working a garden/antique/general store, and rescuing farm animals. Oops I digressed….
Fast forward to now: I love the color my son chose. At first the paint guy said that Behr i300 cannot be tinted dark, however, Celebration Blue is a medium blue which came out pretty damn close. The room is alive with color and cheer. My son loves it and so do I. I left the shelves I had built a few years back unpainted because they were only going to be temporary. To light them up I found LED Christmas lights on clearance at Walgreens and tacked them along the back to uplight the few knick knacks and pictures we put up.
The Behr i300 paint is eggshell and goes on smooth. I did 2 light coats and it covered the medium satin finish brown paint beautifully. I am impressed and found the eggshell finish to be more of a satin than a flatter finish. I have used contractor grade paint from another home store and found it to be flat and dull. I have a couple more rooms to paint in the future and I will definitely be using the Behr i300. This is a great paint for anyone on a budget or who is renovating to sell or rent. I also know from experience that good rollers and brushes are key to the success of painting.
I also have to point out that the walls needed some repair too and I found another product to use instead of your traditional spackle. I love to test out products and see how they really perform. I know they are tested by professionals but I am no professional- I am just a woman with power tools and lots of paint brushes making my world colorful.
I hope I have inspired you to take the plunge and go for color! Thanks for stopping by and tell me what you think.
Creating. Inspiring. Gardening without the rules!
I need to state that I in no form received compensation for this recommendation. I recommend this paint because I find it to be a superior low cost paint to other brands I have tried.
