Pinterest fail in the kitchen #1
My son and husband are great taste testers because they will try most anything. So when I saw these mini pies everywhere on the internet and Pinterest a couple weeks ago I had to try them. My family loves fruit pies so I knew they would be more than happy to eat them. However, {and you need to imagine the scene} we all grabbed one off the cookie sheet, took a bite, looked at each other as we tried not to choke as we grabbed for our glasses of milk and tried to wash the bite down. These mini pies were so dry and tasteless not even my husband would eat a second bite! (mind you I am laughing as I write this) No amount of vanilla ice cream or cool whip could help these.
I did not screw up the recipe. There was nothing hard about it except that I purchased store brand pie crust and used name brand raspberry pie filling. I did quickly watch the video and the directions and there was nothing that prepared me for the mess and the time it took to make them. I love to bake cookies, brownies, and cakes and when I saw this video for making small pies I thought “this looks so easy”. But I have to tell you that after an hour wrestling with rolling out, filling, and pinching 6 mini pies and 6 muffin tin pies I realized that this idea sucked. I stuck the pies in the oven for the 25 minutes (til they were brown) and cleaned up my mess (hoping that these tasted as good as the video made them look).
I am really not into baking pies but I thought how hard could it be to make small ones? After all, if it is on the internet and getting a ton of views and pins, it has got to be good, right?
We were all laughing as we tried to eat these. My husband asks “where did you get this idea?” I said “from Facebook and Pinterest”. My son pipes in “from now on mom you need to stick with what you know”. So with wise words from my teenager, I will stick with Marie Callendar’s because I know her pies are delicious.
So this is my first Pinterest fail (I have written) in the kitchen and I will have more! Thanks for stopping by and be sure to check out more here on my blog.

I’ve been browsing online more than three hours these days,
but I by no means found any fascinating article like yours.
It is beautiful value enough for me. In my opinion,
if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you probably did, the web can be a lot more helpful than ever before.

Pinterest fails are the best! So honest and fun. Although now I really want to know why the pies failed, everything you did sounds fine! Anyway, if they had been perfect, you wouldn’t have created this memory with your family.
